Howard Zucker named 2017 Lawyer of the Year in New York City Public Finance

Hawkins is pleased to announce that Howard Zucker has been named 2017 Lawyer of the Year in New York City Public Finance Law by Best Lawyers®. Only one lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is honored as the Lawyer of the Year. This is the second time in 5 years that Mr. Zucker has been recognized as such.

Lawyers of the Year are chosen by their peers in the Public Finance practice area by receiving the highest voting average during the Best Lawyers® comprehensive peer-review evaluation.

Mr. Zucker has over 39 years of experience in public finance and, among other things, he leads the firm's housing and mortgage finance practice group, representing numerous state housing finance agencies, including State of New York Mortgage Agency, California Housing Finance Agency, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, Michigan State Housing Development Authority, and Oregon Housing and Community Services Department. Mr. Zucker has also been a key partner in the Firm's securitization of tobacco settlement payments practice.

Mr. Zucker has lectured extensively on the subjects of tax-exempt housing finance, securities law and ethics. Throughout the years he has been selected for numerous awards and distinctions. He was the President of the National Association of Bond Lawyers during the 1999-2000 term and was awarded its Friel Medal in 2012 for distinguished service to the public finance industry and in 2007 was awarded the Career Achievement Award by The Municipal Forum of New York. Mr. Zucker has been a member of the Hawkins' management committee since 1991.
