Hawkins served as bond counsel on a $100 million green revenue bond offering by the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank for the behalf of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Academy is using a portion of the proceeds of the bonds to complete construction, renovation, retrofitting, improvement and equipping an approximately 300,000 square foot six story museum decided to motion pictures. Awarded LEED Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for Building Design and Construction, the Academy Museum is expected open in Los Angeles in April 2021 and to house a permanent collection of 11 million items.
Hawkins also served as bond counsel in connection with the original issuance of $341 million in revenue bonds to finance the Academy Museum.
