Hawkins Elects New Partners

Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP is pleased to announce that Gülgün Uğur and Daniel G. Birmingham have been elected as Partners.

Ms. Uğur, based in Hawkins’ Portland office, represents governments, including cities, counties, state agencies, and special districts, in a wide variety of financings. She also serves as Underwriter’s and Lender’s Counsel. Ms. Uğur has a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California at Los Angeles (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Honors College) and a J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law.

Mr. Birmingham, based in the Firm’s New York office, has extensive experience in connection with various property tax-supported bond and note issues involving counties, cities, towns, villages, school districts and fire districts throughout New York State. He has served as Underwriter’s Counsel on many bond and note offerings. Mr. Birmingham has also developed an expertise relating to lease-purchase agreements in connection with energy performance contracts. Mr. Birmingham joined the Firm in 1998 as an associate in the New York local government and school district finance practice group. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Birmingham was the Deputy County Executive of Putnam County, New York, as well as Chairman of the Putnam County Industrial Development Agency. On December 31, 2012, Mr. Birmingham completed his final term as a Putnam County Legislator, having first been elected in 2003. Mr. Birmingham received his B.A. from the Catholic University of America and his J.D. from Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America.
