New York Green Bonds

Hawkins served as co-bond counsel to the New York Power Authority on its $1.1 billion inaugural green bond offering. The bond offering was part of NYPA’s sustainability strategy and was issued pursuant to the NYPA’s Green Bond Framework, under which it intends to use the proceeds to finance and/or refinance, in whole or part, existing and future projects that refurbish, upgrade and modernize its power system. NYPA is currently the nation's largest public power organization, with 16 generating facilities and more than 1,400 circuit-miles of high voltage transmission lines. NYPA generates nearly 25% of New York’s energy supply.
