Hawkins attorneys Jennifer Córdova, Sarah Dickey, Jeff Poley, Zack Polo, Diane Quan, John Renken, Gülgün Uğur and Carol McCoog completed the 2023 Providence Hood & Portland To Coast Relays, August 25-26, 2023.
For nearly 34 hours, Hawkins attorneys ran four to eight mile legs of this grueling 198 mile relay, commonly referred to as ”the Mother of All Relays”. It started before dawn on Friday at the iconic top of Mount Hood and lasted well into Saturday afternoon when runners reached the beaches of the Pacific Ocean at the City of Seaside, Oregon. Two vans, each with six runners and a driver ferried the team to exchange points along the way, ensuring that each runner was picked up after his or her leg and then dropping off the next runner. Jennifer Córdova, team leader, summed it up when she said “This race requires a tremendous amount of training and logistics. We are proud that Hawkins could organize and support this fundraising team.”
The Muni Hawks, which included Hawkins attorneys and other municipal finance professionals, raised $12,000 for Providence Cancer Institute, a pioneer in immunotherapy research and treatment. The 2023 Hood and Portland Coast Relay raised $905,705 toward cancer prevention.
